NIKE Pulls ‘Betsy Ross Flag’ Sneakers After Colin Kaepernick Hit Them Up, Now The Flag-Sneakers Have Skyrocketed In Value + Tomi Lahren Calls Kapernick A ‘Disgrace’ To America

The Young, Black, and Fabulous®

 photo colinshoes1.jpg

NIKE just pulled a sneaker that features the Betsy Ross flag after NIKE ambassador Colin Kaepernick hit them up about it. Meanwhile, Tomi Lahren is still seeking attention. Get it all inside…

NIKE had planned on releasing a sneaker with the original version of the American flag, dubbed the Betsy Ross flag, but they decided NOT to release it at the request of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The shoe company was going to release the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July, which features the logo of the original U.S. flag with 13 stars in a circle and 13 alternating red and white stripes, designed to represent the 13 original American colonies.

It’s reported the NFL plater-turned-activist – who kneeled during the national anthem in 2016 to protest racial injustice and police brutality which ultimately got him blackballed from the league – reached out to NIKE, noting the Betsy Ross flay carried a "connection to an era of slavery."

If you didn’t know, that flag has been adopted for use by some extremist groups in America. He told the company they shouldn’t use that version of the flag because it’s an offensive symbol due to its connection to a time when slavery was legal.

Nike released a statement about the sneakers, saying:

"We regularly make business decisions to withdraw initiatives, products and services. NIKE made the decision to halt distribution of the Air Max 1 Quick Strike Fourth of July based on concerns that it could unintentionally offend and detract from the nation’s patriotic holiday.

"Nike is a company proud of its American heritage and our continuing engagement supporting thousands of American athletes including the US Olympic team and US Soccer teams. We already employ 35,000 people in the U.S. and remain committed to creating jobs in the U.S., including a significant investment in an additional manufacturing center which will create 500 new jobs."

Bigot Barbie Tomi Lahren just had to add her 2 cents.  According to The Blast, the FOX News host called Kaepernick a "spokes cry-baby" and is shocked that he’s "offended and oppressed" by a shoe. She also believes he’s a "disgrace to this country."

There are mixed feelings about Kaepernick’s request:

After NIKE recalled the sneakers, a few pair that leaked are being sold for more then $ 2,000 a pair. It’s reported the shoes were first selling in the $ 250 range, but after news about Kaepernick stepping in, they went up in price.

TMZ reports:

We checked out the website StockX — a super popular streetwear auction site — and one pair of the Betsy Ross kicks sold for $ 2,501 … a Size 8. A pair of Size 10.5s and a pair of Size 9s sold for $ 2,000 each. Another 10.5 sold for $ 1,750. A few pairs of Size 10s have sold in the $ 1,200 range.

Another seller claims they have a pair of Size 10s and they’re asking $ 6,974 — but who knows if they’ll actually get it.

Before the news about Colin Kaepernick’s involvement went public, the shoes had been reselling in the $ 250 range … but the news about CK caused a massive shift and they’re still on fire.

Thoughts?

Mind you, some Stallion fans think she should update her wardrobe and recently joked that Megan would pour her homegrown baaaaawdy into this strip of denim.

Being the good sport that she is, Megan reposted the joke and said the fabric looked “cute.”
